Just Say No!

So you intend a lifestyle change in 2012, going to make an impact at work, fitter, healthier, happier!

Then don't stuff around the clock is running. Start by ditching any resolutions you have made (except using good manners). Resolutions don’t work. They are task focused, not end-result focused. Instead just start saying "NO".

Saying NO is the most powerful change and improvement strategy there is.

Saying NO allows you to get immediate control over your daily life and activities.

Sure it can be tough to say NO and is not easy for the faint hearted. If you want serious change then you will need to toughen up.

  • Say NO to any and all initiatives and activities that hold you back from making progress. Don’t be soft on this just don't do them.
  • Say NO to any meeting that you know will be BS, inefficient and non-productive. Send your apologies or delegate to someone else.
  • Say NO MORE to energy killing relationships. Move on or at very least create a strategy to manage them better.
  • Say NO to chasing every half-baked opportunity that arises. A complete waste of time.  Pick and choose the best.
  • Say NO to over spending. Stop confusing wants with needs and don’t buy them.
  • Say NO to needless trips. Use technology to replace trips. Only travel when it can make a big impact towards your goals.
  • Say NO to bad food. Eliminate or severely decrease the amount of any food, or drink that slows you down by making you fat.
  • Say NO to making excuses and laying blame. Be brutal with your self on this one. Don’t BS yourself. Making excuses is useless behaviour that leads to nowhere and no gain.

Fletch's Big Tip. If you are serious about making change and increasing productivity then you must say NO to things that hold you back and YES only to the things that move you closer to where you want to be.

Identify the standards you wish to uphold and the boundaries that you wont cross. Don’t lower or negotiate at any time for any reason.

What are you going to say NO to in 2012?
